Hola,

Our Spanish club has now started for the Year and we are fortunate to have a native Spanish speaker , Sara, from Madrid along with Mrs Wathen to help us.

During this half term the children in Keystage 1 created a jigsaw profiles all about themselves in Spanish here are some examples of their work. They also learnt the song 'Head Shoulders knees and toes' in Spanish and went on to create a wacky character labeling the body parts in Spanish.

Welcome back to Spanish at Robin Hood.

In Keystage 1 this half term the children will be creating a personal profile about themselves in Spanish. They will be learning to count in Spanish to at least 10 although many can count beyond 10 already that's amazing!!! They will also be learning the names for parts of the body to the tune of 'Head shoulders knees and toes' or 'Cabeza hombros rodillas pies' so join in with the fun!!

In lower Keystage 2 the children will be learning to count to 100 in multiples of 10 from zero!!!
cero, diez, veinte,treinta,cuarenta,cincuenta,sesenta,setenta,ochenta,noventa, cien.
They will learn the days of the week: lunes, martes, miercoles, jueves ,viernes,sabado, domingo. The children will learn the months of the year:enero, febrero, marzo, abril, mayo , junio, julio, agosto, septiembre, octubre, noviembre, diciembre.
They will also learn how to reserve a room at a hotel in Spanish.

In upper Keystage 2 the children will be learning to tell the time in Spanish.
? Que hora es? es la una, son las dos, son las tres, son las dos y cinco etc. etc.
They will also learn the names of some school subjects in Spanish and compare a typical school day in Spain to a typical school day at Robin Hood!

News
From October to May 2011 we will be joined by a native Spanish speaker from Leon in Spain her name is Sara Alonso. She will help the children to develop their Spanish and also help them to understand about the similarities and differences between their own culture and the Spanish culture.

In spanish we have been making an art project about spanish fruit and the world cup. We made a Man dressed in a football kit made out of fruit. We entered a compettition to try to win some money for the school! Watch this space incase we win!

Spanish this half term

In Keystage 1 the children will be learning weather words and phrases in Spanish they will also be learning the vocabulary for items of clothing worn dependant on the weather.

In lower KS2 the children will be learning vocabulary for vegetables grown in the garden and about the life cycle of a plant as well as looking at a well known text in Spanish 'Jack and The Beanstalk'.

In upper Keystage 2 the children will be learning how to order food and drinks from a restaurant or cafe bar in Spain so there will be plenty of role play going on prepairing the children for those long hot summer days on the Costa.........

La Bamba

This half term in Spanish the whole school are learning to sing 'La Bamba' they will perform this at the Year 6 leavers assembly at the end of the term.
After only one session each they already sound amazing so watch this space and hopefully I will beable to post an early preview of the song performed by the children !!!

Spanish for Key Stage 1

On Tuesday of this week I attended a wondeful Spanish course for teaching Spanish in Key Stage 1. I have returned to school with some marvelous new ideas and resources to use in our Spanish sessions. Watch out for the Spanish Pop group who will help you to remember Spanish vocabulary by singing and dancing!!!
